VIDEO: Preschool Enrollment Launches for 2024-25 School Year, Setting Foundation for Success

Lynwood Unified’s Early Childhood Education (ECE) program is now accepting applications for its free- to low-cost preschool program for the 2024-25 school year for children starting as early as 2 1/2 years old at its centers at Will Rogers and Lindbergh elementary schools.

Students enrolled in the early learning program have the opportunity to develop their speech, social and motor skills, with evidence showing that children who attend full-day programs have higher academic and social gains by third grade. At Lynwood Unified, students are provided nutritious meals and engaging learning opportunities during its part-day and full-day options, which range from 7:15 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Children must be 3 years old by December 1, 2024 to enroll.

“We want to give the children of this community the best start to their educational journey through new experiences and magical growing opportunities,” ECE Coordinator Courtney Gillette said. “Parenting is a hard journey. It takes a village to raise a child and we’re their partners in that.”

For parent and ECE secretary, Mavel Carias, Lynwood Unified’s preschool program was an opportunity for her two children, including one born in 2020 during the pandemic, to develop their interpersonal, social and academic skills.

“My son was not very social and it was hard to have him around a group of people, especially strangers,” Carias said. “I noticed the interactions he was having with staff and students, making friends and wanting to learn. He stopped being anxious and crying in public, so that was a huge plus.”

We would love to share all of our program’s benefits with you and would love to have your child as part of our early learning school community. For more information on enrolling your students in the ECE program, visit the website, apply here or call (310) 604-3063.
